Filipino violinist strikes a new chord in Beijing, turns music into a bridge of friendship between Filipinos and Chinese

**BEIJING, China** — In a city where history, culture and diplomacy converge, a 17-year-old Filipino violinist is showing that sometimes the most powerful bridges between peoples are built not through words, but through music. Willie Valdehueza Munar, the Philippines’ lone violinist in the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) 2026, brought his talent to Beijing on August 4 to 5, 2026, as part of the orchestra’s Asian tour, performing alongside young musicians from across the region at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).
